Aunt Vickie
I don’t know how many of yall have an aunt Vickie, but mine beats them all. I don’t think I honestly took the time to see how caring and Godly of a woman she really is until recently. She decorated, cleaned, organized, anything you asked she was there with a smile and that distinctive laugh.
It was until Thanksgiving Day that I found out how much of a warrior she is. My mom told me that she prays for me every single day for me taking Hebrew. I was jokingly talking about how hard my hebrew class was a couple of months ago at dinner with her and my uncle and grandparents, and she said she would put me on her prayer list.
Unlike the common christian that uses that line as a response instead of an action, my aunt Vickie has prayed for me every day of this past semester and I’m convinced that is why I’m even passing the class.
Her faithfulness and compassionate heart supercedes many as her everyday life reflects her words. Not many can say that.
Season For Greed
I’m sure most have heard of the new hype for the xbox 360’s and the huge after thanksgiving sales, but in the middle of all of it my attention was directed to a little girl. I was at Fry’s this afternoon standing in the return line and this little 6 year old girl goes up to her dad saying, ” I have a riddle for you.” In response the father says ok, as she pulles out two different candy bars, and she innoccently says, “Which one?” The father quickly protested as it was almost dinner time with other various reasons. She threw a fit, screaming and waving her arms around, saying she never gets what she “needs” and that he was a mean dad. Making a huge scene in the middle of this huge store I just stood there looking at her with a face of confusion and disgust all at the same time.
The sad thing is, grown men and women act the exact same way just far more dramatic and violent with their tantrums, all for a video gaming system, or a new outfit. Not even two days after the millions of “thankful comments” said nationwide in various homes.
Unfortunatley the father gave in just to get his kid quiet and they went along the child more spoiled and the father with less control than he had before.
How do you stop it? How do you avoid it?
